Efficiency Evaluation of a Small Container Terminal with Perpendicular Yard Layout Using Shuttle Carriers

Productivity is an extremely important factor in the competitiveness of a container terminal. itself largely influenced by handling mechanisation, main task which to serve quay cranes on one side and yard other. One most effective types mechanisation this segment shuttle carriers, are used primarily larger terminals. The objective study was determine if they can also be effectively smaller terminals with different layouts. Therefore, shows impact selected layout terminal productivity. focus berth productivity, as it has greatest vessel port. To end, discrete-event simulation modelling approach small capacity. performed simulations included all operations between yard, focusing correct allocation carriers ensure optimal results sea result showed that use brings substantial performance effect considering layouts annual throughput not exceeding 1 million TEU.
